We love toys!

As narrated by Ferret

So grandma got dad a fun new toy for his birthday, which of course we know was really a present for us. Duh! It is a missile launcher that you control though a computer and the software it included. The darts are made of foam, like Nerf balls, so of COURSE we love them (and must have them and hide them).

When mom was trying to take some pictures of us playing with it (see below), we decided to make that as difficult as possible. Slinky went over to the launcher and proceeded to snatch a missile right off of it and bolt to the hidey hole under the couch. Mom's cries to dad to "Stop her stop her stop her!" were to no avail. Slinky stashed it, and stashed it good! Mom couldn't feel it under the couch or on the ledge so they had to pick up the couch and find it. It was hidden in the one spot they can't reach without moving the couch.

I don't know why they were so mental, something about "if you eat one it might get stuck...dr's office...yada yada..." So mom "wisely" took it away from us so we got lots of enjoyment from fighting over the box it came in and the air pouches that cushioned it. Lots of fun!

Happy Birthday Mom!

Today is mom's birthday. We wanted to wish her a happy birthday, and hope she has fun "hanging out" with us tonight! Her present was that we used the litter box instead of a corner this morning!

What a day for napping!

Today is a very cloudy and rainy day. Sure am glad we don't have to go to work like mom and dad do! We just sit in our hammock all day, well, most of it. We do get up to eat and do our "business". But nothing beats snuggling up to another warm fuzzy on these gray days!

The Tale of Slinky and the Ball

For Christmas, we got some tennis balls from Grandpa and Grandma's puppy, she destroys them so mom snatched them for us. Anyways, turns out that Slinky loves them. I don't know what her deal is, she just runs and runs trying to stash them away under the couch. She even lines them up behind the couch too so she can keep track of them all. She's just a little too excited about them, not to mention just how ridiculous she looks hopping around with them. Doesn't look physically possible, but she does it. Mom managed to catch her on film:

So Long Puffer!

Dad lost another fish. The Toby/White Belly Puffer fish started doing the "dying" float on Saturday, and dad put him to sleep on Sunday night. The hermit crabs will be happy that he won't be around to try and eat them. Dad was sad, he always gets upset when his fish get sick. But he is kind of excited because he got a new car yesterday! Mom's excited that he has a reliable and safe car, and that he finally got a nice car since he deserves it. If you ask us, they should have bought us a ferret mansion instead, but whatever, crazy humans!

Visit to the Vet

On Saturday we made our annual trip to the vet for our check-ups and shots. Mom was a little nervous to go after I had a bad reaction to the Distemper shot. It's not unheard of for ferrets to have a reaction to that shot, which is why they make you wait around for 15 minutes afterwards in case something happens. Normally we just get sleepy from the meds, but last time about 30 minutes afterwards on the drive home I started crying then I was vomiting and had diarrhea in the carrier. I don't think Ferret was concerned, but mom FREAKED. She turned around immediately (in a blizzard no less) and rushed back to the vet's, hoping they were still there since we were the last appointments of the day. Luckily they were there. Mom rushed us inside where they took us into the back room. They brought out Ferret for mom to watch, and from what he said he ran around the office and got into all sorts of fun stuff. Meanwhile, I was in the back getting shot up with Benadryl and the like. They even had to put fluids in me so I didn't get dehydrated. All I remember was that I was really out of it and felt like crap. It seemed like forever, but they brought mom back to see me. I never would have admitted this before, but I was really happy to see her. I started to feel better once she picked me up, I even started to crawl up on her chest to snuggle. I guess I never appreciated her until that day. Now I know she loves me, so I like to show her I love her too, with KISSES!

Anyways, the Doc said we're very healthy and adorable. He said we have very pretty coloring and good personalities. We didn't bite anyone. Ferret spent most of the time hiding in the carrier or on mom's lap, he was tired I guess. This time they gave me benadryl before the shot, to prevent a reaction, and it worked. I did not enjoy the shots though, I got so mad I peed on the counter when he stuck me. I weighed in at 1.4 pounds and Ferret came in at a hefty 3.1. But as long as he's active they don't think it's a problem. We're just glad to not have to go back again, don't get me wrong, we LOVE field trips, but only to pet stores and other parts of the house.
